Cozy Mac and Cheese Meatloaf Casserole

A comforting fusion of creamy macaroni and cheese topped with a savory meatloaf crust, perfect for chilly evenings and family gatherings.

  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
  • 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 3 cups shredded cheese (mix of cheddar and mozzarella)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions, reducing the time by 1-2 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, garlic, egg, salt, and pepper to prepare the meatloaf mixture.
  4. In another bowl, mix 2 cups of shredded cheese with milk until smooth, then add cooked macaroni.
  5. In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer the macaroni and cheese mixture, then top with the meatloaf mixture.
  6. Sprinkle breadcrumbs and remaining shredded cheese on top.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the meatloaf is cooked through and the top is golden brown.

Notes

Feel free to use different proteins or cheese types as per preference. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
