A nostalgic and comforting bowl of homemade spaghetti O’s with meatballs, perfect for families and gatherings, taking just under 30 minutes to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground meat (beef, turkey, or plant-based)
  • 1 cup uncooked small pasta (like ditalini or orzo)
  • 2 cups crushed tomatoes
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, ¼ cup of crushed tomatoes, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Form into small meatballs (about 1 inch in diameter).
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned all around. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the chopped onions. Sauté over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes until translucent and fragrant.
  4. Pour the remaining crushed tomatoes into the skillet with the onions. Stir and simmer on low for approximately 5 minutes.
  5. In a separate pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the small pasta for about 7-10 minutes, or until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  6. Return the meatballs to the skillet and add the cooked pasta. Stir gently to combine.
  7. Allow everything to simmer together for another 2-3 minutes, then serve warm.
