Instructions

  1. Prepare your sheet pan by lining it with wax paper or parchment paper.
  2. Combine the granulated sugar, butter pieces, and milk in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring continuously.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and cook for 1 minute while stirring.
  4. Remove the pan from heat and stir in the quick oats, salt, and optional lemon zest until well combined.
  5. Drop rounded spoonfuls of the oat mixture onto the prepared paper, spacing them apart.
