A mouthwatering dessert that combines rich chocolate cake with luscious layers of caramel, topped with a silky ganache.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chunks or chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Chocolate shavings (optional)
  • Chopped nuts or toffee bits (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine chocolate cake mix, eggs, whole milk, melted butter, baking powder, and sour cream. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Pour half the batter into the prepared baking dish, drizzle warm caramel sauce over it, and spoon remaining batter on top.
  4. Bake for 45-50 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  5. For the ganache, heat heavy cream until hot but not boiling, then stir in chocolate chunks until smooth.
  6. Once the cake has cooled for 10 minutes, pour ganache over the top and optionally sprinkle with chocolate shavings, nuts, or toffee bits. Let ganache set before serving.
