Chocolate Craving Cake

A delightful and rich chocolate cake perfect for any celebration or as an indulgent treat.

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ cup warm water or brewed coffee
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • ½ cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan to prevent sticking.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and kosher salt until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, combine the large egg, whole milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and warm water or brewed coffee. Mix until smooth.
  5. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Gently fold in the milk chocolate chips and sour cream until evenly distributed.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, spreading it evenly.
  8. Bake for about 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a cooling rack to cool completely.

Notes

For an extra chocolatey kick, use dark chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate. This cake can be frozen for up to 3 months if properly wrapped.
