Creamy Garlic Butter Chicken

A cozy, restaurant-quality dinner featuring golden seared chicken in a silky garlic butter cream sauce, perfect for any night of the week.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons butter (divided)
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (optional, for dredging)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken with salt and pepper on both sides. If desired, lightly dredge each piece in the optional all-purpose flour, shaking off any excess.
  2. Heat the olive oil and half the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the pan is hot, add the chicken and sear until golden and cooked through, about 5 to 6 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Lower the heat and add the remaining butter and the minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  4. Add the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let it simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream, bring to a gentle simmer, and let it thicken, stirring occasionally, about 3 to 4 minutes. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon the sauce over it. Cook for 2 more minutes to heat through.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.
