M&M Chocolate Chip Bars

Delicious bars featuring a chewy cookie base with crunchy M&Ms and pockets of melty chocolate.

  • 2 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 and 1/4 cups mini or regular-size M&Ms
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Stir together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large bowl until smooth.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture and mix until glossy.
  5. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  6. Fold in the M&Ms and chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Transfer the dough to the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 26 to 30 minutes until lightly browned and a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
  9. Let the bars cool for at least one hour before cutting into squares.

Notes

For a richer taste, you can use dark brown sugar or double the chocolate chips. Store bars in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
