NYC Thin and Gooey Cookies

These cookies are characterized by crisp edges and soft, chewy centers, dotted with semi-sweet chocolate chips, providing a delightful treat perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually incorporate this dry mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Scoop the dough into balls on parchment-lined baking sheets and chill them in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned but the centers are still soft. Allow them to cool before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, chill the dough before baking to achieve gooey centers. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
