Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken: Pat each breast dry with paper towels. Sprinkle salt, black pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.
  2. Heat the oil: Add olive oil to a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Sear the chicken: Place the chicken in the skillet and cook for 5-6 minutes without moving.
  4. Flip and finish cooking: Turn the chicken and cook for another 5-6 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Rest and keep warm: Remove chicken from the pan and cover loosely with foil.
  6. Make the garlic butter sauce: Lower heat, add butter to the skillet, and let it melt. Add minced garlic and Italian seasoning, sautéing for about 1 minute.
  7. Recoat the chicken: Return chicken to skillet and spoon the garlic butter sauce over each breast. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  8. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle with parsley, if using, and serve warm.

Notes

For a thicker sauce, spoon butter over the chicken repeatedly during the final minutes.
