Rice Krispie Treats

Warm, buttery, and impossibly nostalgic, these Rice Krispie Treats are a go-to recipe for cooks of all skill levels, perfect for after-school snacks and bake sales.

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 bags (10 ounces each) mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 9 cups crispy rice cereal

Instructions

  1. Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
  2. Melt the unsalted butter in a large pot over medium heat.
  3. Add the mini marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
  4. Remove the pot from heat; stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  5. Fold in the crispy rice cereal until coated.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking pan and gently spread it out.
  7. Allow to set at room temperature for at least 1 hour.
  8. Lift the treats out of the pan using the parchment and cut into squares.

Notes

Store cooled squares in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, wrap in plastic and freeze for up to 1 month.
