Cheesesteak Meatloaf

A savory twist on a classic cheesesteak, this delicious meatloaf combines ground beef, pork, vibrant vegetables, and melted provolone cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/2 cup sliced roasted red peppers

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, green bell pepper, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix until just combined.
  3. Press half of the meat mixture into the bottom of a loaf pan, forming a compact layer.
  4. Layer half of the shredded provolone cheese, sliced mushrooms, green onions, and roasted red peppers over the meat mixture.
  5. Top with the remaining meat mixture, pressing it down firmly to seal the edges.
  6. Bake for 60 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
  7. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the remaining provolone cheese over the top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with a side of vegetables or mashed potatoes.

Notes

For even cooking, allow the meatloaf to sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes before baking. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
